Establishment & Purpose
Utah State Code and Hurricane City Code require that a Planning Commission be established. The Planning Commission promotes orderly development within the city and makes land-use recommendations to the city council. Refer to Hurricane City Code § 10-6-4 for complete information about the Planning Commission.
Applications considered by the Planning Commission for recommendation to the City Council include general plan amendments, zone changes, and subdivisions. The Planning Commission is the deciding body on conditional use permits and site plans.
Special Meetings & Agenda Items
Special meetings such as General Plan Amendment and Joint City Council/Planning Commission work sessions are scheduled throughout the year. These meetings will be announced and posted on the calendar of this website.
Note to agenda item applicants: Application deadlines vary depending on the application. The required deadlines are listed on the individual application or you may contact the Planning Department. These deadlines are necessary to allow staff sufficient time to review and process each application. Failure to submit all required application materials by the meeting deadline will delay the consideration of the application.
