Public Notice 1/03/2022

PUBLIC NOTICE OF VACANCY AND APPLICATION PROCESS FOR INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS

Please be advised that a vacancy exists on the Hurricane City Council. The Hurricane City Council will act to fill this vacancy at a meeting to be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, TBD, at the Hurricane City Office, 147 N 870 West, Hurricane, UT.

Anyone interested in being appointed to fill this vacancy shall submit an application, a picture, a resume, and a brief 1-2 page written statement explaining why you are interested, how you are uniquely qualified to serve on the City Council, and any prior involvement in the City or community organizations or activities. In addition, please identify any concerns you have about the city and priority matters you hope to help address. Briefly explain your view on the constitution and the role of local government and your ability to put in the time to properly serve. Submit all documents to Cindy Beteag, Hurricane City Recorder at the same address. The deadline for submission is Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications to be considered to serve on the City Council of Hurricane are as follows:

• Be a citizen of the United States

• Be a registered voter in Hurricane City

• Must be a resident of Hurricane or a resident of a recently annexed area of Hurricane for the previous twelve (12) months

• Not convicted of a felony*

*Utah Code §20A-2-101.5 states: A person convicted of a felony loses the right to hold office until (1) all felony convictions have been expunged, OR (2) ten years have passed since the most recent felony conviction AND the person has paid all court-ordered restitution and fines AND the person has completed probation, been granted parole, or completed the term of incarceration associated with the felony.

Public Notice 1/3/2022

Hurricane City is working with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and other agencies on a water efficiency project that is proposed to expand the existing pressurized irrigation system.

An electronic copy of the Draft Plan-EA and other Project materials are available from the NRCS Project website.

The public is invited to attend a virtual public meeting on January 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Project information will be provided and comments will be solicited for the Project Draft Plan-EA.

Registration is required to attend this meeting. After your registration is complete, you will receive an email with instructions on accessing the meeting online or by phone.

Public Notice 12/21/2021

The Hurricane City Council will hold a Public Hearing during their regular meeting at 147 N 870 West (or as specified on the agenda, please watch) on January 6, 2022 commencing at 6 p.m. to take comments on the following: 

  1. A Sensitive Land application located at approximately 300 North and 2850 West on the Paraiso subdivision containing 262 lots.

The Hurricane City Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing during their regular meeting at the Hurricane City Office 147 N 870 West (or as specified on agenda, please watch) on December 15, 2021 commencing at 6:00 p.m. to take comments on the following: 

  1. A Zone Change Amendment request located at 3353 South 1100 West to contain a PDO, planned development overlay, with the underlying zone of RA-0.5, residential one unit per half acre. Parcel numbers H-3396-E, H-3396-C, H-3396-D.
  2. A Zone Change Amendment request located at approx. 1766 West and 422 North from R1-10, residential one unit per 10,000 square feet, to R1-6, one unit per 6,000 square feet, to contain a PDO, planned development overlay. Parcel number H-3-1-33-2446

The Hurricane City Council will hold a Public Hearing during their regular meeting at 147 N 870 West on October 21, 2021 commencing at 6 p.m. to take comments on the following:

1. A proposal to create a Critical Infrastructure Materials Protection Area on the following parcels: H-3-1-30-31021, H-3-1-31-431, H-4-1-25-2202, and H-4-1-36-100, located at 600 N and 3400 W.
